About roof painting

Concrete roof tiles lose their surface colour over the years, and once that surface wears the tile becomes more porous. A good roof coating seals the tile, protects it from the weather and gives the whole house a fresh look.

Painting is only as good as the preparation underneath it. That is why we never paint over a dirty or damaged roof. The roof is cleaned first, repairs are done, and only then is it sealed and painted.

Colour is a personal choice, but it is worth thinking about the bricks, gutters, fascias and window frames on your home and the roofs around you. Lighter colours reflect more summer heat; darker colours hide marks. If you are unsure, tell us the look you want and we will talk it through with you before the job is booked.

Roof painting: common questions

Can you paint terracotta tiles?

Glazed terracotta is usually not painted. Unglazed terracotta can be. Tell us your roof type and we will advise.

Do I need repairs before painting?

Any broken tiles and loose ridge caps need fixing first. We include what we can see in the quote.

Does weather matter?

Yes. Coatings need dry conditions, so we check the forecast before booking and may move the date if rain is coming.

Is painting covered by the warranty?

Yes, the 10-year workmanship warranty covers the area of roof we restore, including materials and workmanship.
